Total Player Development

Everything a young player needs, under one roof in Lino Lakes: an eight-station training facility, strength and leadership, and a development plan that follows your player home.

Four parts, one system

Skating, hands, and shooting get a player noticed. Strength, character, and a plan keep them improving. Every part connects to the others.

PART 1

The Facility

Eight training stations under one roof in Lino Lakes, built so a player can get more quality skating, stickhandling, and shooting reps in an hour than in a week of practice.

Eight stations. Every rep coached.

Players rotate through stations in small groups, so nobody stands in line and every rep gets a set of coach's eyes on it.

Player shooting at the projected-target simulator
Station 1

Shooting Simulator

Projected targets and games that score release speed, accuracy, and decision-making in real time. Shooting reps become competition.

Shooting
Player shooting in the RapidShot cage
Station 2

RapidShot

Feeds pucks and tracks every shot. High-volume reps build a quicker, more accurate release under game-speed pressure.

Shooting
Player on the Rapid Hands reaction trainer
Station 3

Rapid Hands

Reaction-based stickhandling against a live clock and scoreboard. Hand speed, quickness, and puck control under pressure.

Stickhandling
Player stickhandling while reading the overhead screen
Station 4

Heads Up Hockey

Players read a screen while handling the puck, so eyes come off the ice and stay up. The habit every elite player has.

Stickhandling
Player on the Skier's Edge lateral trainer
Station 5

Skier's Edge

Lateral loading builds the push and stability behind a powerful stride. The legs get stronger where skating actually happens.

Skating
Player on the Stryder slide trainer
Station 6

Stryder

A skating-specific slide trainer that grooves stride mechanics and edge control so good technique becomes automatic.

Skating
The UltraSlide slide board
Station 7

UltraSlide

A slide board that builds the side-to-side push, balance, and leg endurance behind a strong skating stride.

Skating
Shooting video analysis
Station 8

Video Analysis

Frame-by-frame breakdown of shooting mechanics: puck placement, weight transfer, release. Players see exactly what to fix.

Shooting

Skills, strength, and leadership in one visit

BTP Strength training space

The skills floor connects directly to the strength space, home to BTP Strength powered by Charity. Athletes move from the stations to the weight room without leaving the building, so a single visit can cover skating, hands, shooting, and strength.

The same room hosts BTP's leadership sessions: the mental side of the game, taught in small groups, for players who want to be the ones others follow.

Group size, ages, the kind of session you want, and a few dates. We'll reply with availability and pricing.

2. Confirm

We hold the date, send a short waiver link for participants, and plan the station rotation with you.

3. Show up and play

Shoes, gloves, and a stick are all anyone needs. We set up, run the clock, and reset between groups.

PART 3

Player Development

Your player's own development system, built by BTP: a monthly check-in that finds the three things holding them back, a weekly plan to fix them, the BTP skills handbook, and BTP Coach, an AI coach trained on exactly how we teach, that knows your player.

How it works

Most families know something is off. Few know exactly what, or what to do about it this week. This closes that gap.

1. Two-minute check-in

Once a month, parent and player rate skating, shooting, hands, game sense, confidence and energy. Wording changes with the player's level.

2. Three priorities

The tool turns the check-in into your player's three biggest opportunities, with the why, and tracks a growth-spurt estimate so the plan follows the body, not the birthday.

3. A plan for this week

Drills for home and ice, one habit to build, and the roadmap for where they are. Updated every check-in. Coaches add focus points straight into it.

Meet BTP Coach

Type what you're seeing, in your own words. BTP Coach answers in seconds, in BTP's language, from BTP's handbook, and it knows your player: their level, their last check-in, their coach's notes.

"She turns wide going to her left and avoids crossovers that direction. What should we work on this week?"A parent's question
"This is almost always an edge issue, not a strength issue. Turning left means her inside leg has to pull under on its outside edge. If that edge feels shaky she'll swing wide instead… One thing to do this week: circle crossovers to the left, starting slow, weak side first, double the reps that direction. Before adding speed, outside-edge holds on the left foot alone."BTP Coach, with links to the two handbook pages it used

Every answer is reviewed by BTP coaches. When we correct one, the whole system learns it. Want a human look? One tap sends the conversation to a real BTP coach, who answers in the app and adds focus points to your plan.

The BTP handbook

Twenty skills, researched against USA Hockey, Hockey Canada and the sports-science literature, then written the way we coach them. Each one: the signs it's a problem, why it matters, what the coach says, four levels from Foundation to Elite, drills for home and ice, common mistakes, and the deep dive.

SkatingPosture, knee bend & ankle flexion · Edge control · Stride & first three strides · Crossovers, stops & pivots · Backward & C-cuts
Puck skillsStickhandling with split vision · Puck protection · Passing & receiving
ShootingShot mechanics & loading · Quick release & traffic · Scoring areas & finishing
GameThe OODA loop & decision speed · Offensive support · Defensive play & compete
BodySpeed, power & strength · Growth & maturation · Recovery, sleep & nutrition
MindInternal locus of control & leadership · Focus & flow · Confidence & mistake recovery

Plus how BTP thinks (the OODA loop, internal locus of control, the task-positive network, the 3:1 environment) and how BTP plays, position by position.

Why those skills? 76% of goals are scored on shots the goalie can't see cleanly, half come from the inner slot, and carrying the puck over the blue line doubles the shots per entry. See the data behind how we train →

Questions

Is BTP Coach a real coach?

It's an AI coach we built and trained on BTP's handbook, playbook and coaching language, and it reads your player's profile before it answers. BTP coaches review its answers and correct them, so it keeps getting more "BTP." For a human answer, tap "Send this to a real coach" and one of us replies in the app.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Open the Member Portal in Safari or Chrome, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. It runs full-screen like an app.

My player is advanced for their age. Does it still fit?

Yes. Every skill is written in four levels, Foundation to Elite, judged by what the player can do, not their birth year.

Do we need to be in a BTP program?

No. Any family with a portal account can use the free version, and any family can join. It's built for players 8U through 9th grade.

Does one membership cover siblings?

Yes. Buy it for any one athlete on your family account and every athlete on the account is unlocked for the season.

PART 4

BTP Strength powered by Charity

Hockey-specific strength and a leadership curriculum, in the same building as the skills floor. Built for players 8U through 9th grade, run by the person who wrote it.

The complete athlete

Skating, hands, and shooting get a player noticed. Strength and character keep them there. Both are built into how BTP develops players, not bolted on.

Pillar 1

Hockey-specific strength

Age-appropriate, progressive training that builds the power, stability, and durability the game demands: hips, core, single-leg strength, and the posture that survives a season. Every athlete is baseline tested so the gains are measured, not guessed.

Price on request: email us
Pillar 2

Leadership & goal setting

A structured curriculum on accountability, goal setting, and habits. Players learn to lead themselves first, then a room. Taught in small groups, and it carries well past the rink.

How it fits

Same roof as the skills floor

The strength space connects directly to the 8-station facility, so a single visit can cover skating, stickhandling, shooting, and strength. Summer Pod families add it as an option; it also runs as a standalone program.

Who runs it

Charity Grubbs is BTP's Strength & Leadership Director. She created the leadership curriculum and runs every strength session and baseline test in the building. The program carries her name because she built it.

Sessions are small, coached the whole way through, and scaled to the athlete in front of her, whether that's a Mite learning to move well or a 9th grader getting ready for tryouts.
